Coffee - We've Come A Long Way

Coffee has become a huge business, things have certainly changed.  It's not unusual to see a particular coffee chain (who shall go nameless) have one of their shops in a shopping center, and, have another shop in the grocery store of the same shopping center.

It used to be that everyone had their coffee at home and used the same method - either an electric or stove top percolator.  Today, we have a choice of different methods to brew our coffee at home, along, with a variety of flavors and beans from around the world.  You can still purchase the old-fashioned grounds in a can or you can buy whole beans and grind them or pods for individual cups.  So many choices!!

At Village Kitchenware, we have a variety of coffeemakers that cater to modern coffee drinkers.  Of note, is the 3 In One Hot Beverage Center, which will brew coffee from grounds or pods, tea from bags or leaves and also create hot water for instant soups or oatmeal.  Another fine coffeemaker for enthusiasts is the Brewstation Summit Ultra 12-Cup Coffeemaker which has no hot plate to scorch the taste of your coffee.  Instead it's got a special holding tank to keep brewed coffee fresher that dispenses it directly into your cup.  Along with these items, we have a wide selection of other fine appliances.

Table Manners Yesterday and Today

Etiquette at the table has changed greatly over the centuries, today we would be absolutely disgusted by what was quite common then.  Man would often hunt, skin and then eat with the same knife and then turn around and use it on his enemies.

Before the invention of the fork, most people simply ate with their hands.  When necessary a common spoon may have been used.  The more sophisticated would eat with two knives.

Modern man eats with what can be a dizzying assortment of different forks and spoons designed for special tasks.  Thankfully, most of us just have to contend with three simple utensils.  At Village Kitchenware, we have some very extensive but practical surgical stainless steel flatware sets from Sterlingcraft.  They include a full service for twelve along with hostess pieces.  They also have a lovely gold trimmed set that is perfect for any occasion.

The Benefits of Waterless Cookware

"Waterless" cookware has been around for many years, but, many people have never heard of it.  Waterless cookware is a method that uses just a fraction of the amount of water that you would use with other kinds of cookware.

Why is this important?  It does two very beneficial things, it keeps both flavor and nutrients in your food.  You will cook more nutritious food, instead of vitamins and minerals going down the drain with excess fluid, they stay in your food.  Foods also retain more flavor when they aren't diluted by an onslaught of water.
Once waterless cookware comes to temperature, you can also do what is called Stack Cooking.  In other words, you can place one pot on top of another, thereby, saving energy and burner space.

One of the most complete, practical and affordable waterless cookware sets currently available is the Longevity 32-Piece Waterless Cookware Set.  It includes all the cookware and accessories that you will need to start cooking this wonderful method.
